Leroy Merlin, a French chain of construction supermarkets, plans to open 40-60 outlets in Ukraine in the next 15 years.
As early as next year the company plans to arrive in the Kyiv market, the director of the consulting company Ukrainian Trade Guild (UTG), Vitaliy Boyko, has said.
By 2012 Leroy Merlin plans to establish presence in all big cities of Ukraine. In 2012-2018 the company plans to expand to cities with 250,000-400,000 residents.
Experts think that the most appropriate expansion strategy for Leroy Merlin is to buy one of the existing Ukrainian chains.
Among the chains that might be of interest to Leroy in Ukraine are Epicenter and Nova Linia, the investment banking department director at Dragon Capital, Andriy Pyvovarsky, said.
